Usability Testing, IMO is the fastest way to understand what’s going wrong on your site for users. Usability Testing can be done as “current-state” tests on your live site or used to test new designs, user flows or concepts with users.
Usability Testing provides solid insights into the strength of a design, navigation, specific user flows and can help pinpoint why certain conversions are not as high as they could be. It’s best at helping us to understand why users aren’t converting or where they encounter obstacles, need more information or more confidence.
It’s one of the most valuable research tools there is when it comes to understanding user behavior for the purpose of design. If you are looking to increase conversions and could only do one UX research method, this would be the one I’d recommend since it reveals the most opportunity for improving user experience.
